When Jeremy Parsons was offered a driving job by his former classmate in 1987, he would never have dreamt that he would still be working for the same firm 30 years later! In 1987 Somerlap (then known as Ubley Sawmill) needed a driver, after purchasing its first lorry to make deliveries. Somerlap Pallets staff member Steve Fraser (now its Production Director) knew that Jeremy had a Class 1 Licence, and in October of that year he joined the company.

During the following years Jeremy took on a number of roles including driving a forklift truck, sorting pallets, and working in the retail business, but he has retained his Class 1 Licence and can still be found in the cab of a Somerlap truck when the need arises.
Jeremy said: “The past 30 years have just flown by! I love the variety of my role, and the fact that there are people here who I have worked with for 30 years. I also enjoy helping out the new apprentices who are just beginning their careers and who I can teach about working for Somerlap.”
