Somerlap Pallets have recently taken delivery of a new DAF truck to add to our existing vehicle fleet. As a growing business, this addition will help us keep up with increasing demand, allowing us to fulfil more customer deliveries and grow our client base.
Increased delivery on demand with the new DAF truck
The new DAF truck (a CF 450hp, 4×2 tractor unit) will join our existing fleet and provide further flexibility to our delivery-on-demand service. Somerlap Pallets large stock-holding means we are able to offer all our customers standard delivery within 3-5 days, plus an urgent delivery service within 24 hours.
All Somerlap trailers are a curtain sided design as is the new DAF truck trailer. This ensures that pallets designed for transporting sensitive materials are kept dry whilst in transit.
An environmentally friendly choice
The environment is a key concern for Somerlap Pallets and all timber used in the manufacture of Somerlap products is obtained from managed, renewable sources.
The new pallets truck is more efficient, helping us to reduce harmful emissions. We also recycle wherever we can, with pallet recycling facilities available and bag maker M-24 benefiting from our old lorry curtains and turning them into fashionable bags.
Driving investment
The truck is the latest addition for Somerlap Pallets, following significant investment in our state of the art equipment and growing team. The DAF offers maximum transport efficiency by lowering fuel consumption and contributing to lower CO2 emissions (minimising environmental impact). External styling changes and enhancements to the driveline, has improved fuel efficiency by up to 12%. Driver comfort is also a major consideration and the unit offers the most spacious interior living space in the range.
The MX11 engine offers up to 2300nm of torque (a figure only achieved previously in the 13 litre offering). This represents that downsizing the engine not only achieves maximum fuel return, but also an impressive (and responsive) driving experience for productivity.
More jobs for local people in Somerset
Our ongoing business growth means we are able to create more jobs for local people. Pictured below with the new truck is Somerlap driver Dale, who lives locally. Somerlap Pallets is very much a family concern for Dale, as Dale’s step-son Joshua has also just started working as a trainee in our timber fencing production department.
We are always happy to hear from local people who are keen to join the Somerlap Pallets team. If you are interested in joining us, please download and complete our job application form.
