Somerlap’s Technical Administration Manager, Nigel Puddy has twice the reason to celebrate because he’s recently marked both his 60th birthday and 22nd year of working at Somerlap.
Nigel began his career as Health and Safety Manager at Somerlap’s former site in Ubley, ensuring the safe operation of the sawmill and overseeing the increasing operations at the Mark site. 22 years later he retains responsibility for Health and Safety, but is also involved with many other roles, such as the administration of the motor vehicle fleet, ordering engineering spares and workwear, staff training and insurance matters.
When Nigel isn’t working he enjoys watching a variety of sports and is busy planning a trip to Australia with his wife later in the year to visit family and celebrate his milestone birthday. He also has family responsibilities at both ends of the age spectrum, being a grandfather and looking after his own father who, at the age of 85, still works on the family farm.
Kevin Bond, Managing Director of Somerlap, said; “Nigel has been the ‘go-to’ guy at Somerlap for many years because his general knowledge of most things is so good. He is also the ‘face’ of Somerlap at many business groups. Happy birthday Nigel and we look forward to celebrating many more with you!”
